Membership

​

• Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month (except September, Labor Day)

• No meetings are held in January, June, July and August

• Active membership implies that members are expected to attend at least half of the regularly scheduled meetings.  When active members do not attend they are expected to give a valid excuse to the hostess committee.

• If you make a reservation and do not cancel it before the count is given to meal supplier, you are expected to pay the cost of the meal.

 

Dues are to be paid in full by June 30.

Statement of Membership:  Membership in The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is open to women who express an interest in membership, as well as those who are invited to join. An individual becomes a member of the Society upon payment of dues, which includes membership in the International Society and may also include membership in (a) a state organization or (b) both a state organization and local chapter.

 

Classification of Membership: 

 

Active members shall be women who are employed in educational work at the time of their election and retired women professional educators. They shall participate in the activities of the Society.

 

Reserve members shall be formerly active members who are retired from educational work and are unable to participate fully in the activities of the chapter because of physical limitations. Reserve status shall be granted by a majority vote of the chapter. Reserve members are excused from committee work. If a Reserve member is present at a chapter meeting, she is eligible to vote.

 

Honorary members shall be women not eligible for active membership who have rendered notable service to education. They shall be privileged to participate in all activities except that of holding office.

 

Collegiate members shall be undergraduate or graduate students who meet the following criteria: Undergraduate student collegiate members shall (1) be enrolled in an institution offering an education degree and have the intent to continue academically and professionally in the field of education. Graduate student collegiate members shall have the intent to continue academically and professionally in the field of education.

 

When a collegiate member starts her career as a paid educator, she will pay active member dues and become an active member. If a collegiate member does not pursue a career as an educator, her membership will expire upon graduation or withdrawal from the education degree program.

 

State members are part of the Society at the international and state organization level but not part of a chapter. They may vote and hold office at both the state and international levels.

Global members are individuals who join the international organization directly and are not affiliated with a state organization or local chapter. Global members may vote, serve on international committees, and hold the position of member-at-large. Global membership is available to members who reside in areas where no state organization or local chapter exists.

 

Affiliate members do not meet the qualifications of membership but are committed to the mission of DKG. They may not vote or hold office in the Society. Individuals who wish to support DKG should contact Society Headquarters to become Affiliates.

 

Members must comply with the governing documents of the Society as outlined in Article 4, Section D.2 of the International Bylaws.
